The community which includes the former Gleason, Peak, and Sharp
school districts has a long history with 4-H. G. P. S. Happy-Go-Lucky
has existed under that name since 1955, but 4-H has been a part
of the G.P.S. community since 1935.
Before the Gleason, Peak, and Sharp schools were consilidated
into G. P. S., several other early clubs existed that contributed
to the energy that became Happy-Go-Lucky.
G.P.S. (Gleason, Peak, and Sharp) School was completed in 1954.
Since that time all regular meetings have been held there. At
the reorganization meeting held October 17, 1955, the club voted
to change the name to "Happy-Go-Lucky."
In the 1955/1956 4-H year there were a total of ten members
in H-G-L (Happy-Go-Lucky). In the 2006/2007 4-H year there are
31 members in the club.
Happy-Go-Lucky still meets at the G.P.S. schoolhouse, southeast
of Paris and west of Santa Fe in Monroe County, Mo. Meetings
are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7pm.
If you wish to visit, please
to confirm this time and date is still the case.
